How this one works
A name-hash returns a number that looks meaningful, stays stable, and means nothing. This does not work that way.
Each name produces three numbers in the Chaldean system: the Destiny number from every letter, the Soul Urge from the vowels, and the Personality from the consonants. Each number is ruled by a graha, and those grahas have fixed friendships — the same table our chart engine uses.
The score compares your numbers pair by pair through those friendships, plus a bond number formed from both Destiny numbers together. Every point is shown in your report. Run the same two names twice and you will get the same answer, always.
Why friendship is weighted differently from romance
This uses the same numbers as our Love Calculator, weighted differently on purpose.
In romance the Soul Urge carries the most weight. Two people can enjoy each other’s company enormously and still want incompatible things from a life, and in a relationship that eventually surfaces.
In friendship, Personality carries as much weight as Destiny. Friends spend their time in company rather than in confession. A friendship can run happily for decades on shared outlook and easy company without either person ever knowing the other’s deepest motivation — which would be a problem in a marriage and is not one here.
Your bond number
Add both Destiny numbers, reduce to a single digit, and you get the number the friendship itself carries — distinct from either person.
It describes what the two of you become in each other’s company, which is often not what either of you is alone. Two quiet people with a bond number of 3 tend to get louder together; two restless people with a bond number of 4 tend to settle each other down.
What a score does and does not mean
A low score does not mean the friendship is doomed, and a high one does not mean it will survive neglect. Numerology reads names, and a name is one small signal about a person.
What the score is useful for is naming the shape of a friendship you already have. A pair scoring low on Personality but high on Destiny often describes two people who bicker constantly and would still get on a plane for each other. That is worth recognising.

Is this friendship calculator random?
No. There is no randomness anywhere in it. It applies Chaldean numerology to both names and scores the results through the friendship of the grahas ruling each number. The same two names always give the same answer, and the full working is shown.
What is a good friendship score?
Above 70 is a strong bond, 55 to 70 is a good working friendship, and below 40 suggests two quite different people — which is not the same as incompatible. Plenty of long friendships are between people with very little in common.
Which name should I enter?
The name each of you goes by. Numerology reads the name in habitual use, because that is the one being spoken and responded to.
Why is this weighted differently from the love calculator?
Because friendship rests on different things. Romance depends heavily on the Soul Urge — what each person privately wants. Friendship depends more on Personality, the easy day-to-day compatibility, because friends spend their time in company rather than in confession.
Can I use this for family or colleagues?
Yes. The scoring is about how two people's numbers sit together and applies to any non-romantic relationship.
Is numerology scientific?
No, and we will not pretend otherwise. It is a traditional symbolic system. What we guarantee is correct arithmetic, a disclosed method, and the working shown so you can check it.
