Government Job Prediction in Astrology: The Houses, Yogas and Dasha Periods Astrologers Read
No single placement promises a sarkari naukri. Astrologers read the 10th and 6th houses with the Sun, Saturn and Jupiter for the theme, and the dasha you are running for the timing, while the cut-off, the vacancies and your preparation stay outside the chart.

"Will I get a government job, and when?" Government job prediction in astrology answers that question with a fairly consistent method in the Parashari tradition: look at the houses of work and service, at the planets that stand for authority and duty, and then at the dasha (planetary period) you are running. The houses and planets describe whether service and authority are a strong theme in the chart; the dasha describes when that theme is traditionally expected to come forward. Most of the confusion around a "government job yoga" comes from reading the first half and skipping the second.
One thing first, because it shapes everything below. A chart, as astrologers traditionally read it, describes tendencies and periods. It does not know how many vacancies a commission will notify this year, what the cut-off will be, or how many mock tests you have taken. Read what follows as a way to think about timing and temperament, not as a forecast of a selection list.
Government job prediction in astrology: what is read first
A government job is read as a particular flavour of career, so the reading starts where any career reading starts, with the 10th house, and then asks what makes it "public" and "service".
| Factor | Why it is read | What astrologers look for |
|---|---|---|
| 10th house and its lord | Profession, status, how the world sees your work | The sign on the 10th, planets in it, and where its lord sits |
| 6th house and its lord | Service, employment under others, competition and exams | A link between the 6th and the 10th |
| The Sun | Authority, the state, the government itself | Its strength by sign, its house, its link to the 10th |
| Saturn | Service, discipline, long tenure, institutions | Its strength and whether it touches the 10th or its lord |
| Jupiter | Support, judgement, respect, teaching and law | Its aspect on the 10th house or the 10th lord |
| The running dasha | When the promise in the chart is "switched on" | Periods of the 10th lord, the 6th lord, the Sun or Saturn |
Two more checks are common. Many astrologers also look at the dashamsha (D10), the divisional chart traditionally used for career, to see whether the Sun and the 10th lord hold up there. And the 11th house, the house of gains and fulfilled wishes, is read for whether an effort pays off.

Government job yoga in kundli: the combinations people quote
The phrase "government job yoga in kundli" covers a handful of combinations. Most are modern rules of thumb built on classical significations rather than named yogas from a single text, so astrologers differ on how much weight each one gets. Here is each with its placement rule, so you can check it rather than take it on trust.
| Combination | Placement rule | How it is traditionally read | A caution |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sun in the 10th | The Sun occupies the 10th house from the lagna | Work connected with authority or the state | Read with the Sun's sign: weak in Libra, strong in Aries or Leo |
| Sun linked to the 10th lord | The Sun sits with, aspects, or is the 10th lord | Career tied to government or administration | A link is not a placement in the 10th; weigh it lower |
| 6th-10th link | The 6th lord in the 10th, the 10th lord in the 6th, or the two lords together | Employment through service and competitive selection | The 6th also shows rivals and strain; read the whole house |
| Saturn on the 10th | Saturn in the 10th, aspecting it, or linked to its lord | Long, steady service in institutions | Saturn often delays; it is read as slow, not as denial |
| Jupiter's aspect | Jupiter aspects the 10th house or the 10th lord | Respect, protection, roles in teaching, finance or law | Jupiter supports a promise; it does not create one alone |
| Mars on the 10th | Mars in the 10th or linked to its lord | Uniformed services such as police or defence | Read the same way for engineering and sports careers |
| Raja yoga touching the 10th | A kendra lord (1, 4, 7, 10) joined with a trikona lord (1, 5, 9) | Rise in rank and status | Classical, but not specific to government work |
What a yoga does and doesn't mean
A yoga in the chart is read as a promise that needs its period to show. Plenty of people with "the" combinations work in private companies, run businesses or teach, and plenty of officers have none of them. The same Sun in the 10th is read as authority in a family business as easily as in a ministry. So a yoga is a description of temperament and opportunity, not a verdict. If you find one in your chart, it does not mean the job is coming; if you don't, it does not mean you should stop preparing.
When will I get a government job? How astrology reads the timing
This is the question most people actually mean, and astrologers traditionally answer it with the Vimshottari dasha rather than the yogas. The reasoning is simple: a yoga shows what the chart can give, the dasha shows when.
- Find the running mahadasha and antardasha. Your kundli lists them. The planet whose period you are running is read as the main voice of those years.
- Ask how that planet connects to the career houses. Periods of the 10th lord, the 6th lord, a planet sitting in the 10th, the Sun or a well-placed Saturn are the ones traditionally linked with selection and joining.
- Narrow down with the antardasha. Within a long mahadasha, the sub-period of a planet linked to the 10th or 6th is read as the more active window.
- Check slow transits over the 10th. Saturn and Jupiter take months to years to cross a sign. Astrologers often look for both touching the 10th house, by placement or aspect, around the same time, and call it a double transit.
- Keep exam, result and joining apart. These are three events, often months or a year apart, and an astrologer usually reads them separately.
Saturn's periods deserve a separate word, because so many government-job questions arrive in them. Saturn is the planet of service, and a strong Saturn running its mahadasha is often read as the time a steady post arrives, after effort and some waiting. Our Shani mahadasha guide goes through its 19 years antardasha by antardasha.
A worked example on a sample chart
Take "Meera", who is preparing for a state public service exam. Her sample chart has a Cancer lagna. Counting houses from Cancer, the 10th house is Aries, so the 10th lord is Mars. The 6th house is Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter.
| What we check | In the sample chart | How an astrologer would read it |
|---|---|---|
| 10th house | Sun in Aries, the Sun's sign of exaltation | A strong pointer to authority and public work |
| 10th lord | Mars in Sagittarius, the 6th house | A 6th-10th link: work through service and selection. Mars also rules the 5th for a Cancer lagna, so it is traditionally called a yogakaraka here |
| Saturn | In Libra, the 4th house, exalted, aspecting the 10th by its 7th aspect | Support for institutional service; also read as delays and hard work |
| Jupiter | In Leo, the 2nd house; its 5th aspect falls on the 6th and its 9th aspect on the 10th | Support for both exams and career |
| Running period | Mars mahadasha, with Jupiter antardasha next | The 10th lord's own period, then the 6th lord's sub-period |
Put together, an astrologer would traditionally read the Mars mahadasha as Meera's career period, and the Jupiter antardasha within it (about eleven months, since Mars's seven years are shared out in proportion) as an active window for exams, because Jupiter rules her 6th house. The Saturn antardasha that follows, a little over a year, would be read as the period for steadier, slower outcomes such as joining and settling in.
Then the transits. In 2027, by the dates PanchangBodh's Grah Gochar 2027 lists, Saturn enters Aries on 3 June (Meera's 10th house), turns back into Pisces on 20 October and settles in Aries from 23 February 2028. Jupiter re-enters Leo on 26 June 2027 and moves to Virgo on 26 November 2027. For this Cancer lagna, both Saturn and Jupiter touch the 10th house from late June to October 2027, which is the double transit astrologers point to. Check a panchang for exact times in your city; other calendars can differ by a day.
What the example does not say: whether Meera clears the exam. Her result depends on the notification, the syllabus, her preparation and the competition that year. The chart reading suggests when she might push hardest and how to pace herself, and that is all it suggests.
What a chart can't tell you
Government recruitment runs on things no birth chart contains, and an honest reading says so.
- Vacancies and the exam calendar. Notifications, postponements and the number of posts are decided by commissions and governments.
- Your preparation. Syllabus coverage, revision, mock tests and interview practice move results far more than any placement.
- Eligibility. Age limits, attempts, qualifications and category rules are facts to check in the official notification.
- Cut-offs and competition. These change every cycle.
So a favourable period is not a reason to prepare less, and a difficult one is not a reason to give up. There are no guarantees in a chart, and anyone who sells a "sure-shot" sarkari naukri remedy is selling something the tradition itself does not promise.
Sarkari naukri yog and traditional practices, free ones first
People searching for "sarkari naukri yog" often also ask about remedies. Here is what is traditionally recommended for the planets involved, starting with practices that cost nothing. All of them are optional and none of them replaces study, or medical, legal or financial advice.
- For the Sun: offering water to the rising Sun (Surya arghya), reciting the Gayatri mantra or the Aditya Hridayam, and a regular early-rising routine.
- For Saturn: keeping a fixed daily study timetable, serving elders and those who work for others, and charity on Saturdays, as tradition suggests.
- For Jupiter: respecting teachers, studying regularly at the same hour, and help with someone else's education.
- Optional items: some families add a rudraksha for focus. If you are thinking about one, our chart-first guide to rudraksha for career explains how the choice is traditionally tied to your own chart, not to a general list.
If your question is a posting abroad rather than at home, the reading shifts to different houses; our guide to foreign settlement in astrology covers those.

Questions people ask
Which house is for government job in kundli?
Astrologers traditionally start with the 10th house of career and status, then look at the 6th house of service and competitive exams. The Sun, as the planet of authority and the state, and Saturn, as the planet of service, are read alongside them. No single house decides it on its own.
Can astrology tell me which exam I will clear?
No. A chart is read for tendencies and periods, not for a particular exam, post or rank. Results depend on vacancies, cut-offs and preparation, which a chart does not contain.
Is the Sun in the 10th house a sure sign of a government job?
It is one of the most quoted pointers, but it is not a rule that always holds. The Sun in the 10th is read as authority in any field, including business and private management, and its strength depends on its sign and the rest of the chart.
Does Saturn's mahadasha help with a government job?
A well-placed Saturn connected to the 10th house is traditionally read as supportive of steady institutional work, often after delays. A weak or badly placed Saturn is read more cautiously. The antardasha within it, and the rest of the chart, matter as much as the mahadasha.
Can I check my government job yoga without a birth time?
Only partly. Planet signs can be found from the date, but houses depend on the lagna, which needs your birth time and place. Without the time, the 10th and 6th houses, and so most of these yogas, cannot be read reliably.
